The Voice Over LTE (VoLTE) service has been launched in South Africa and like we know, it is compatible with selected smartphones. The service is known as HD Voice. It was launched yesterday and it has started working.
To get MTN VoLTE service working for you, you are expected to update your device software. Now you don’t have to bother about data because MTN will be dishing out free 1GB Data for the update after which your device will be automatically configured to support the HD Voice.
According to MTN…
“The HD Voice service will allow customers to benefit from voice calls in clear, natural-sounding HD Voice on MTN’s LTE network – coupled with a faster call connection time,”
There will be two phases of introduction. The first phase has already commenced while the second phase is expected to commence by October 2018.
The first phase will support a couple smartphones like
- Samsung Galaxy S8
- Samsung Galaxy S8+
- Sony Xperia XZ2
- Huawei P20 Lite and
- CAT S61 devices
Other devices are expected to get theirs in the second phase which is a month from now.
