Glo Legal Free Browsing (Free Data Day) Suspended – See Reasons
August 11, 2017
Am sure many Glo customers have been warming up for this day, as we were expecting free internet service from Glo for the next 24 hours. Yesterday 10th August, 2017 The Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) ordered Globacom to stop the legal free browsing.
The Legal Free browsing is dubbed free data day which allows customers use 200MB data though you have to be eligible. This really shocked me because after getting the news yesterday, I wasn’t quick to disclose the information, rather I tried to confirm. Meanwhile, I got a message from Glo that today the free data day starts. Well, even with all that, the action has been halted.
Now what crosses the mind of many customers is the reason why the Glo free data day was stopped. According to NCC this promo wasn’t inline with what was approved by the regulator. Below is what the Nigeria Communication Commission disclosed.
It has however come to our notice that Globacom Nigeria Ltd has been implementing the above regulatory approval in breach especially given your recent media campaign on the ‘Glo free data offer’, a clear departure from terms and condition of the approval given for the Glo overload promotion.
“Consequent upon the above, you are hereby directed to suspend implementation of the Glo overload promotion from your network with immediate effect,” the letter read.
Now, this got me thinking. Do you think the NCC is against or for us.
Meanwhile, my viewers shouldn’t bother much. #Winkz..
